A Very Sweet Valentine

Liam had a lot of fun this Valentine's Day. He was so excited that he got to pick out his very own Valentines this year. After serious deliberation he chose Yo Gabba! Gabba! Valentines, which for those of you who don't know, is a very, er, interesting children's show. http://www.nickjr.com/shows/yo-gabba-gabba/index.jhtml It's just funny because almost every child I know loves the show and we just can't figure out its appeal. However, he was *very* proud of his Valentines and he lovingly made them for his little daycare friends. He put a lot of time into choosing each one for each person and did a great job practicing writing his name on them all by himself.

All Aboard!

Liam has been incredibly imaginative lately. Everything has at least 5 different functions or identities. He's been really, really into making 'trains' for all of us to ride. It started off very simply. He would just put a few chairs in a line and make everyone sit in them while he yelled "CHOO CHOO." Then he decided that the train needed wheels. First, he used his little letter magnets as wheels and put them next to each chair leg. Izzy was visiting and those are too much of a choking hazard, so he found a new ideas: balls! They are even round like wheels. He was thrilled with this idea, so he rounded up as many balls as he could to make wheels. Then he found the little wooden circle from a ring stacker thing and made a steering wheel. We had quite the train! We can no longer return to just a simple chair train... no, no, we always need ALL the wheels and a steering wheel before we can ride it now. I'm interested to see what addition will be next.

Liam really is thrilled when he can convince someone to be a passenger. He's so glad Izzy is agreeable. (check out the giant green wheel on the left. :))

Izzy decided to provide some musical entertainment for their train ride with Liam's blow-up Dora microphone. ;)

I'm really loving this stage. This is just one example of the many things he has been dreaming up lately. :)

Just Like Daddy

Liam loves to be just like his Daddy. He thinks that this hat that Daddy got from Uncle Beannie is really cool. I think he looks like a little stud muffin, just like his Daddy.

Geometry

Learning about a hypotenuse from the best (my high school math teacher-- Mr. Darrington!). He really is the best math teacher. I hope it rubs off on Liam early.

What GGs Do

These are the kinds of things that G.G.s do. I guess it's what they are supposed to do; maybe it's in the Great-Grandma handbook. But, I don't think it's in there that they have to clean up great-granchildren after such incidents with candy apples from buffets. But, it makes sense, you should get those kinds of privileges after becoming a Great Grandma.

I guess this is why G.G. is quite possibly Liam's favorite person in the whole world.

Jumping Right In...

The first week of this semester we had our skills lab to learn how to do IV insertion. It was wayyy too much fun.

Here is my lab and clinical partner, Michelle, attempting access.

This is Justin who is also in our clinical group. He is in the Navy(he did something medical--imunizations and such), so it's nice because he's already done all of this and can show us all the tricks.

After reviewing these photos, we realized that we have very bad body mechanics and will always raise up the bed so that we don't kill our backs. These are the things you never knew you'd learn in nursing school.
