The Friend

We decided that it was finally time to get a subscription to The Friend(a children's church magazine). It was probably overdue. Boy, Liam is THRILLED with it. He loves to read the comics and stories about the scriptures. He also loves to read stories about kids all over the world that are like him. He even mentions their names sometimes after we read the stories and he opens up The Friend. He just looks like such a big boy here. It was the perfect setting: a lazy, summer afternoon with the air conditioner(well, swamp cooler) on, curled up in a chair reading a good story. He knows what the good things in life are.

Breaking Dawn is in my Hot Little Hands...

We did it! We went to the Barnes and Noble release party on Friday night and got our copies of "Breaking Dawn"... It's proving quite interesting, but no spoilers here! First, we went on an overdue double date with our lovely friends, Jason and Amy, who is actually a bigger Twilight fan than me. She's read "Twilight" four times!! It was killer for her, because she works at Amazon.com, to have to package up these books without reading a word that was inside on Thursday night. They fire people who read. ;) We enjoyed dinner at the Skyline Cafe'. The mood was beautiful. We enjoyed out meal out on the deck overlooking the city at dusk. It was heavenly...


Then- The Party! I thought I was a big Twilight fan. I though Amy was a big Twilight fan. I was wrong. It was insane. Here are a few snapshots of the evening- Twilight Prom pics and all. Twilight pictionary with insane and adorable Young Women from the Eighth ward and probably every ward in Reno. The groups were often in matching Twilight shirts, proudly displaying "Team Edward" pride. :) Girls after my own heart... I also just had to take a photo of the car in the parking lot... Awesome. My sweet Sunday School girl, Kathryn, was beautiful as Rosalie. I think she is the cutest Rosalie ever!





I wish you could really see the amount of people there. When they counted down, there was screaming like I've never heard before. That was when Wes and Jason left and bought our books at Wal-Mart for almost half the price... haha

It was a really fun evening. I don't think you can see my face painting in the photos: I heart Edward. :) Off to read some more...

Liam LOVES music. I truly think he'll be a musician like his daddy. He especially loves church hymns. He knows most of the words to the primary songs we sing him and fills in all the words. He also loves fun songs. When he plays with Izzy's rattles, he sings, "Shake, Shake, Shake, Shake, Shake, Shake, Shake your Boooty!" Well, I couldn't figure why he was starting to sing "booty" in the middle of a hymn. Then I realized it rhymes with "Love and Beauty" that is supposed to go where the italicized parts are. What a silly boy!

My Garden Grows

My Garden is growing! Hooray! These sunflowers were the ones I planted from seeds and now they are blooming and beautiful. I also have some tomatoes and strawberries growing. So far, no bell peppers, but I do have flowers, so hopefully we'll get some. The Jalepenos are doing great in the upside down grower. We're trying one tonight with tacos. I'll let you know how that goes... I love my sunflowers, though! I'm so pumped that I can actually grow something.

The Next Bubble Boy...

Why the next bubble boy, you ask? Well, here is the story...
So, my sister invited us to go on an improptu camping adventure this weekend. My parents agreed to go, so we threw everything in the car on Thursday night and headed up Friday. It was kind of a crazy week, since I had been working all week, but we were all excited. We went up to Bocca Reservoir, which is right near Truckee. The minute we drove up, Liam shouted, "Lake, yay! Boat, yay! Papa's boat, yay!" He was beyong himself with excitement. We got everything set up and took a quick spin in the boat that evening. It was beautiful. The air was clear and it was cool and refreshing after a hot week. Surprisingly, Liam went to sleep pretty easily and slept great in the tent. We enjoyed the evening, looking all dorky and what not with the head lamps for reading and roasting marshmallows for s'mores. The next morning, we were up bright and early so the guys could go fishing. Unfortunately, no fish. We had a fun morning and Liam enjoyed getting VERY dirty(you can see in the pictures...it was very dusty!) We had to run to Truckee for a few things and then went back to camp, where we sent Liam swimming with Daddy, Titi, and Izzy. I went and did my first real photo shoot up at anothe camp-turned out pretty well... My mom went with me and we came back to camp to a screaming Liam. He was beyond tired. He had broken out in hives everywhere. He wanted nothing. I tried putting some steroid creme on his legs for the excema and allergic reaction, but he screamed more. I was getting worried that something was really wrong. So, we headed home. He didn't even want clothes on. He was asleep before we left the park. It was a bummer to leave, but we needed to. He slept long and hard last night, but his eyes were all swollen this morning. He also has scratch marks every where from his incessant itching. But he is slightly better... Wes said he's going to have to be the next bubble boy with all of allergy problems. It's such a bummer because I really have been wanting to get things under control. Hopefully we'll get the allergy mess figured out soon. Poor guy. Anyway, here are pictures from the first night and day. I can't put captions because blogger is being weird again and won't let me see the photos, but there is more... We went back for a second day!













Day TWO:
Let's try this again. :) We went back to camp this morning to get our stuff together and let Liam go out on the boat again. All of Liam's long pants were dirty, so we put him in some overalls. Wes affectionally referred to him as "Huck Finn" the entire day. I guess it's time for some new jeans. But, Liam didn't seem to mind. He had a great time this morning. We took a boat ride. I think we need to get Liam a water bed. He seems to sleep easily in the boat. :) It was a bummer we had to pack up and leave, but we had a good time this morning. Hopefully next time will be better, allergy wise.
