What GGs Do

These are the kinds of things that G.G.s do. I guess it's what they are supposed to do; maybe it's in the Great-Grandma handbook. But, I don't think it's in there that they have to clean up great-granchildren after such incidents with candy apples from buffets. But, it makes sense, you should get those kinds of privileges after becoming a Great Grandma.
I guess this is why G.G. is quite possibly Liam's favorite person in the whole world.

Jumping Right In...

The first week of this semester we had our skills lab to learn how to do IV insertion. It was wayyy too much fun.

Here is my lab and clinical partner, Michelle, attempting access.

This is Justin who is also in our clinical group. He is in the Navy(he did something medical--imunizations and such), so it's nice because he's already done all of this and can show us all the tricks.

My first try.
She got it! He was definitely a bleeder! ;) (fake blood. haha) I got it! This is my crazy nurse face. Nice, isn't it?
After reviewing these photos, we realized that we have very bad body mechanics and will always raise up the bed so that we don't kill our backs. These are the things you never knew you'd learn in nursing school.
And I'll end with a quote from Michelle's facebook:
"Nothing is good about these pictures! Blood everywhere! An arm but no body! Pure joy at the thought of sticking a needle into a human body...its all just wrong..."

Our Trip

Here is our trip in a few pictures. We had a great time! For some reason, I didn't take as many photos, but there are still plenty. I got a ton of great photos of Liam and Ben, but not with anyone else. Apparently, they were photogenic the week we were there.

Anyway, we went to Wes's parents' ward New Year's Eve party the night we arrived. We had a lot of fun and Liam sported his new froggie pjs and cool converse tennies. Uncle Beannie was really cool and taught him to play Bunko.Just a funny staged photo. haha.

Here are Wes and I at a shopping center in Portland. I really wanted to get to an Anthropologie and this was near the temple the night Wes, Ben and I went. It was GORGEOUS. They had beautiful fountains and fires and this beautiful tree. It's hard to explain. So pretty.Liam playing with Oma with his cool "Cars" car. Just cute. Can you see mischief in his eyes?Just a few of our Christmas in Washington.
The morning we left I had to get lots of snuggles and kisses from my baby. Liam was able to stay in Washington and fly down with Oma three days later(on the way home the pilot let him sit in his seat and press buttons and 'fly' the plane!). It was a nice break for Wes and I, but I sure missed my boy.

Liam had a lot of fun and apparently a little too much rough housing in Washington. The morning Oma was to go back to Washington, he went in to wake her up and jump on her bed and kneed her right in the eye. She had a nice shiner to take back home with her!

We did have a good trip though. Lots of late nights playing Scattagories and making vinyl for the walls and just hanging out. We did have some new family photos taken, which I'll post when we get them back from the photographer. It was nice to take a little vacation since this was my last break until graduation in December! I can hardly believe it.

The Misterhairies

I'm still behind on my blogging here--but I know I'll catch up someday. Just probably not someday soon with the way this semester has started. At any rate, here are some more pics from our trip to Washington. The missionaries live with Wes's parents and this could very well be the highlight of Liam's trip. The elders that live there are just awesome and both are the oldest of a lot of kids--so they know just what kids love! The first morning that we were there, the elders made Liam a trail of candy in the hallway. Talk about the way to a kid's heart! After that he always wanted to hang out with the elders, which of course wasn't always possible, but anytime the door opened to the house, he was sure the elders were back! They also taught him how to twirl glow sticks, which he thought was pretty cool. He still talks about them constantly and just says that they are 'working' since he can't find them. Here are some photos of them with the glow sticks.

And with their infamous bag of candy that Liam constantly begged for after they made him the trail. It got so bad that he wanted to go wake them up when he woke up each morning to get some candy and play. haha

I think that Elder Esplin and Elder Franke are definitely his favorite "Misterhairies" ever!

"Must have been a good landing..."

I've mentioned before that it is a rare occasion when my son falls asleep anywhere but his bed. I was a little nervous about this on our flight to Washington as it was right in the middle of nap time and I just knew he'd be a bear the entire time. He was VERY excited to get to ride in an airplane though and threw his arms up in the air at take off yelling "weee!" even though I could tell he was a bit apprehensive about it. He was all smiles, though.About 15 minutes before we were to land in Boise(we had a layover in Boise before we made it to Portland), he fell asleep. This was even more of a problem because if he doesn't get a long enough nap(and even if he does) he is a monster after he wakes up. So, I would rather he not have even taken the cat nap. I just *knew* he would of course wake up when we landed. Landings are seriously LOUD.As we approached, Wes and I were both prepared for him to SCREAM when he woke up when as we were landing(we're quite the optimists aren't we?) But, he didn't. Then, we thought for sure he would wake up when we stopped at the gate. But, he didn't. We just knew he absolutely would wake up when it was our time to get off. But, he didn't. So Wes just unbuckled the carseat and carried him off the plane. As we were walking up the ramp, the pilot stated "Must have been a good landing..." I guess so! So, of course, I just knew the minute we put him down in the airport he'd wake up. Again, he didn't. Still not awake.
About 45 minutes later as we were getting ready to board the next plane, he woke up. And he wasn't even a bear! The rest of the ride up there was great. He exclaimed every time he looked out the window that he saw Spiderman and Ghosts. ???!?!?!?! I don't even know how he knows about either thing. Then he kept making sure to point out to everyone that he saw Grandma's house.
Really, what do parents know anyway? Just when I think I know my child's every move, he surprises me!

Creative Weekend

We had a fun weekend at my parents' house. We decided to go out so my mom and I could scrapbook before school starts tomorrow. We had a great time and got a lot done! I wanted to post some of the pages for fellow scrappers to see. Most of the photos aren't the best quality because I was snapping quickly I guess. But, you'll get the idea.
First Liam's second birthday-- My mom did this for Izzy's first Halloween.
Mom did this for Izzy's first Birthday Cake.Christmas 2008 by me.This is one I did for the store, but I put the pages on here backwards. It actually reads "A house is just a house, friends and family make a home sweet home."Another Birthday one by my mom.And the last birthday one by my mom. There is a picture being printed for the blue empty frame. And Liam and his skeeter.Liam had a ton of fun with Nana and Papa. He especially loved when Papa let him wear his head lamp.
And thank to my mother-in-law, Judy, we're all getting vinyl on our walls. This is what we put up on my mom's kitchen

And I'm back in the school saddle tomorrow. :( Break went entirely too fast. I just logged in my webclass thing and found I have about 5 chapters to read before Wednesday. I just don't think it's fair to have homework before school even starts! Ahh! Aw well. I'm at the starting line to a marathon to graduation in December. Here's hoping I can keep up.
