A Little Project

Well, it looks like we've decided to take on a little project. I guess we've been getting bored with nursing school, homework, work, homework, work and family, (take note of the sarcasm), so to add a little something more to our lives, we decided to purchase a house! Actually, we really decided to take the plunge because of the tax incentives and the amazingly low house prices in our area right now.

The process has been frustrating to say the least. Things are crazy out there. Usually there are multiple offers within a day or two after the house has gone on the market. Most often, they are over asking price. So, it's really not just about finding a house you like, but it's also about winning a bidding war. Grrr...

Anyway, we figured if something was meant to happen for us, it would happen. And that is exactly what has happened thus far. We found this little house and went and looked at it one evening, realizing that the bank was calling for highest and best the very next morning. So we had little to no time to think about it and we decided to go for it! I LOVED the layout and the price was less than we were originally anticipating. It is also still near to GG and Grandpa-Great, which we were hoping for as well. In fact, it's probably only about a mile from where we live now. The neighborhood is very clean and cute, and it's a block from an elementary school.

I wasn't about to get my hopes up about anything, but 2 days later we got a call saying we 'won.' Because it's a bank owned house, we had to have all inspections and appraisals as well as loan applications and all that mumbo jumbo done within 10 days. The last 10 days have been stressful to get all that done, but we just finished everything and now we are waiting to close. I think it's a pretty big feat to get through all of that because that's generally, from what I understand, when things fall through. Thankfully, everything has gone fairly smoothly and I hope that the rest of the escrow goes that way as well. We're still crossing our fingers, because I sort of feel like I'm jinxing it by posting this, but we're set to close on or before September 10.

Without further ado, here is the house! The yard needs lots of TLC and eventually we'll be needing new windows, but it's in good shape and move-in ready and we can do all those little things as time and money come along. :) It has 3 bedrooms and 3 full bathrooms(2 upstairs, one down). It is 1886 sq. ft. It kind of reminds me of a doll house. Here's the laundry room coming in from the garage. I want to paint it some funky color, like aqua, because the laundry room is really the only place to get away with something like that. :)

So anyway, now you know what we'll be up to for the next couple of months: painting, planting, moving, in between school, work, overtime for Wes, studying for NCLEX (nursing boards) and keeping Mr. Liam entertained. :) We're feeling a tad overwhelmed, but are SO excited for the next chapter of our lives.
